The latest release of KnoppMyth which is a bootable Knoppix Linux CD preconfigure for running Myth TV has been getting rave reviews and brings the DIY set-top box one step closer to becoming mainstream.

With modest hardware requirements and good support for a wide number of video cards out of the box, the KnoppMyth CD allows you to put the hardware together, stick in a CD, boot up off the CD and be running in less than 30 minutes according to the author, Cecil.

This is a great innovation. Compiling hardwares in a single storage area is a hard task. However, this will definitely ease all my troubles. Plus, I like the fact the other features are equally great.

I have to admit that due to time constraints, instead of trying out the Knoppix solution myself, I ended up running with the Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005. Blasphemous, perhaps, but I was up and running within the evening without having to work through any installation issues.
